Pet Food: My Dog Likes Chinese
The recent scare involving tainted pet food from China got me thinking: how far will I go to guard the welfare of my pet?
It’s hardly an idle question. Although I do not regard my dog as a full-fledged member of the family, many other pet owners do, and one can hardly fault them. But no Food and Drug Administration exists for pets. As far as the pet food manufacturers and importers are concerned, pet food remains little more than a quality control issue - but if the same unfortunate defect ever occurred in human food, the media would cast it as a public health issue.
